Ingredients

  • A few elderberries
  • 1 cup of water

Method to make:

Add elderberries and water in a saucepan.

Tip: If you prefer, you can also mix a pinch of turmeric or cinnamon as per your choice.

Bring the water to a boil.

Let it simmer for around 15 min.

Switch off the flame.

When the prepared concoction cools down, take the strainer and strain all the elderberries.

You're ready to sip your hot cuppa tea.

Note: You can also prepare these blue elderberry recipes by replacing berries with 10 to 15 ounces of elderflowers and boil it in 250 ml water.

 

Elderberry Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup elderberry Juice
  • 1 grapefruit (large)
  • 1/2 cup raspberries (frozen)
  • 1 cup blueberries (frozen)
  • 1/2 cup mangoes (frozen)
  • 1/4 cup water

 

Method to prepare:

First, take your blender and squeeze the juice out of the grapefruit.

Then add elderberry juice, raspberries, blueberries, and mangoes in it.

Note: You can also use fresh berries instead of frozen.

Now add the water to the juice.

Start blending until the mixture reaches the smooth consistency.

That's it! Pour the smoothie elderberry recipe in a glass and relish with your breakfast.

Elderberries Jelly

Fresh elderberry recipes to prepare lush jellies for your little ones.

Ingredients

  • 8-10 cups ripe elderberries
  • 4 1/2 cups white granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp butter
  • 1 packet pectin

 

Method to make:

Put the pot on medium flame and add the rinsed berries in it. Start crushing them using a masher.

When you see juice has come to boil, reduce the flame and let it simmer on a low flame for 10 min.

Afterwards, sieve the boiled mixture using a large fine-mesh strainer. Leave the strainer on the pot for an hour for thorough straining of the juice.

Now mix three cups of this elderberry juice with pectin and lemon juice in a large pot. Boil on high heat.

Further, add butter and sugar to the mixture while stirring continuously.

Bring it to a boil again.

Note: If the mixture boils over the pot, lower the heat a bit.

When the mixture turns thick, switch off the flame and pour it into a jar. Make sure you do not fill it up to the rim.

Close the jar lids and allow the jelly to cool.

Serve to your kids and hear them say yum!
